Deji vs Wassabi news
Lightweight boxing star Ryan Garcia has branded Saturday’s white collar bout between Deji and Alex Wassabi ‘an embarrassment’.
YouTuber-turned-boxer Deji lost the white collar boxing match on a split decision at Wembley Arena.
Garcia tweeted: “This is an embarrassment to boxing please have more respect next time.”
Deji revealed afterwards he had Covid during his training camp ahead of the fight.
He said: “For one of the [training] weeks I got Covid.
“But I’m not making any excuses for myself – I lost fair and square.”
Wassabi says he is desperate for a rematch Deji, explaining: “Deji, I just wanted to compete and if it wasn’t for you that dream wouldn’t have come true.
“I want to get back in… I don’t know when the next YouTube event is.”
Deji has put off his decision to retire after the defeat.
Before the fight, he had vowed to hang up his gloves after two prior defeats.
But he said the support of the Wembley Arena crowd had changed his mind.
He said: “If you guys want me to fight again, I’ll show you what I can do.”
And the fan who stormed the ring during the bout insists he has no regrets over the prank.
As the action was unfolding in the second round, a TikToker called Golden Boy jumped the rope and halted proceedings.
His real name is Louis Brow and he is a 21-year-old aspiring boxing content creator who makes motivational and fitness clips.
He told the Daily Star: “It was just a publicity stunt to get the name out there, to catch everyone’s attention, get people talking about us.
“Everyone just sees the stunt but not the vision, the plan behind it.
“A lot of planning went into it, it was really well planned out.”
