Joel Pohjanpalo’s move to the Serie B has been confirmed. Both the Finn’s Bundesliga club and new Italian side made the transfer official on Friday evening. Specifics were jot released by either part, but it is known that the 27-year-old will not be loaned out for a sixth consecutive time. Pojanpalo signs a two-year-deal with the Italian club.
“We are very grateful to Joel for his commitment over the past few years. He has always totally identified with Bayer 04,” Leverkusen managing director Simon Rolfes noted in a statement released by Bayer.
Technically property of die Werkself since 2016, Pohjanpalo actually only represented Germany’s red company team in 28 competitive appearances. Five consecutive loan spells saw him work stints for Fortuna Düsseldorf, VfR Aalen, Hamburger SV, Union Berlin, and (most recently) Çaykur Rizespor in Turkey.
Danke für alles, Danger! Wir wünschen dir viel Erfolg in Italien. 🙏👋
