STUDENTS have been told to stay away from a university campus in wake of an “incident” this morning, as cops and forensic teams rushed to the scene.
A large police presence remains outside the AECC University College in Bournemouth.
The specialist university situated on Parkwood Road confirmed an incident had taken place on campus today, although the nature of it remains unknown.
In a mass email, students were urged to stay away until they were provided with further updates on the ongoing situation.
It explained no teaching would be taking place in the Main Building or Cavendish House until dinnertime, although classes were continuing on the Garnet Campus.
Those onsite were told they could stay to study and work but others were warned to stay home until more information was provided.
The AECC college assured staff and students “there is no risk to those on site”.
According to Dorset Live, locals said there are “lots of police” in the area and “nearly the whole road” has been closed.
A nearby property is also said to have been cordoned off.
The university earlier sent another email out apologising for the disruption.
It said: “Many thanks for your co-operation with today’s changes to teaching.
“We would like to reassure you that even though we have had to stop teaching this morning, there is no risk to those on site.
“Campus is safe and the library and offices remain open for study and work.”
