My son was refused his school Christmas dinner after I missed the booking slot

A SCHOOL refused a pupil his Christmas dinner after his parents missed the booking cut off.

But to ensure the lad didn’t miss out on a festive feast, his mum hand delivered a homemade roast with all the trimmings to the school gates.

The plate was piled high with turkey, potatoes, sprouts, carrots and holiday favourite Yorkshire puddings.

There was also a mound of mash, cauliflower cheese, broccoli and cabbage – all finished off wish lashings of gravy.

The boy had been missed off the list for the Welsh Valley school’s version of the traditional feast after his mum failed to register her son for one.

She contacted the school receptionist, but was told he wouldn’t be getting a portion as it was simply too late.

The mum, a member of the armed services, then took matters into her own hands and prepared one of her own, the Valley Times reports.

A photo of the delicious-looking dish was shared on Facebook and quickly racked up thousands of comments.

Many were mega impressed with the “super mum” who went to extreme lengths to make sure her little boy wasn’t the odd one out.

One wrote: “Well done. These schools should be ashamed. I’m glad you got one in the end.”

Another commented: “Name and shame the school. That could have been a very different scenario!

“What if that one hot meal was the only hot meal or only meal that child would have? This is completely unacceptable!”

And a third said: “Well done to that Mam. That dinner looks scrumptious.”

And others insisted the school would have prepared a couple of extra portions, and would have had enough to go around.

“Shocking! And I bet there was plenty left over for the cooks and catering staff as I know from working in the school they make enough to have their own Christmas dinner when lunchtime is done,” one said.

Another posted: “I am a cook in a school kitchen and I’m sorry but this wouldn’t happen.

“We didn’t get our exact figures for our Xmas dinner until the actual day!

“We get approximate figures about a week before just so we know how much food to order.

“Plus every school kitchen has to over compensate for spillages etc so always have spare food.”

You’ve been roasting potatoes wrong – one ingredient will make them ‘pillowy’ on the inside & crunchy on the outside
