AN ex-police and prison officer has appeared in court accused of a string of criminal offences after she allegedly had an “intimate relationship” with a jailed murderer.
Stephanie Heaps, 30, is said to have passed on “sensitive police and prison intelligence and tactics” to Leon Ramsden during their relationship.
She also allegedly overlooked criminality in HMP Wymott, Lancs.
Heaps, of Runcorn, Cheshire, appeared at Manchester and Salford magistrates’ court on charges including misconduct in public office.
All offences are said to have taken place between March 2018 and July 2020 when she served as a prison officer and then as a cop with Greater Manchester Police.
Co-accused Ramsden, 33, jailed for life in 2015, and five other defendants face a raft of charges.

All will appear at Bolton crown court in July.
