The identity of the teenager who allegedly tested positive to Covid and went to a popular nightclub has now been revealed.

The identity of a teenager who allegedly went to a popular Adelaide nightclub ignored a direction to isolate after testing positive to Covid-19 has been revealed.

Ralph MacIntosh, 19, was arrested and charged with breaching a direction under the Emergency Management Act over the incident that happened at a Hindley St club on December 17.

While the Kensington Park resident was initially going to be held in custody on remand until Wednesday, he was released from the City Watch House and granted police bail on Tuesday.

He is due to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in February next year.

As he left the facility, Mr MacIntosh was seen in a striped red and blue jumper, holding a bag over each of his shoulders and a mobile phone to his ear.

He was met by a woman who tried to block media cameras while waiting reporters questioned the teen.

Mr MacIntosh said: “I won’t be answering any questions” before entering a silver Mercedes Benz that drove off.

The Advertiser reports Mr MacIntosh attended Pembroke School and St Peter’s College before moving to Geelong Grammar.

SA Police will allege the eastern suburbs resident remained at the city nightclub and did not quarantine after being told by SA Health that he tested positive to Covid-19.

It is alleged Mr MacIntosh received the text message that he was required by law to isolate immediately at about 10.20pm.

The teenager was later put into the state’s dedicated Covid positive medi hotel Tom’s Court to complete isolation.

The club was identified as a close contact exposure site by SA Health, allegedly forcing about 150 patrons and staff into quarantine.

In a statement, Loverboy’s management said it was forced to close over what would have been the busiest week of the year.

If found guilty, Mr MacIntosh could face a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment or a $20,000 fine over the charge.
